If these bolts fail, the IC air bags may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, causing the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
The improper deployment of the IC air bags increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants during a crash. The recall is expected to begin on April 1, 2017. Dealers will inspect and replace the bolts as necessary, free of charge.
