What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (power window pinch) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for products with potential for injury but no confirmed incidents.
Plain-English summary
Dorman Products, Inc. is recalling certain aftermarket power window switches, including Dorman-brand part numbers 901-601 and 901-370, and Solutions-brand part numbers 730-7444-1 and 730-7630-1. The recall affects 3,424 units.
The recalled switches fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems." Specifically, if the switch is activated to raise the window and an object, such as a finger, is between the window glass and the frame, the switch will not auto-reverse to prevent an injury. This failure creates an increased risk of injury during the accidental or intentional activation of the auto-up feature.
Dorman will notify owners, and dealers will replace the window switch free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2017. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
