Morbark Beever Wood Chippers Recalled for Side Marker Light Placement

Morbark is recalling 2008-2016 Beever wood chippers because side marker lights may be mounted too high, potentially increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (increased crash risk due to visibility issues) where no specific injuries or fatalities have been reported in the source text, aligning with the 'High' severity criteria for theoretical or unreported harm.

Plain-English summary

Morbark, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2008-2016 Beever wood chippers, including models M15R, M15RX, M18R, M18RX, and M20R. These units were manufactured between January 5, 2008, and October 3, 2016. The recall involves 3,331 affected vehicles.

The side marker lights on these vehicles may be mounted too high to be easily seen. This placement causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." The incorrect location of the side marker lights may increase the risk of a crash.

Morbark will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the rear side marker lights free of charge. The recall began on January 9, 2017. Owners may contact Morbark customer service at 1-517-866-2381 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
