Vermeer Manufacturing Company is recalling certain 2014-2016 TG5000 Tub Grinder trailers manufactured between November 23, 2013, and May 23, 2016. The recall addresses a defect in the trailer hitch fifth wheel assembly where spherical washers used during the assembly of the kingpin may have been installed incorrectly.
If the spherical washers are installed incorrectly, the attaching bolts may fail, causing the kingpin to detach from the trailer. If the kingpin does not remain properly connected, the trailer may detach from the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.
