What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (brake system failure) that increases the risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Vermeer Manufacturing Company is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 TG5000 vehicles manufactured between November 23, 2013, and May 23, 2016. The recall involves 11 affected units.
The assembly instruction manual for these vehicles specified the wrong slack adjuster pushrod length. As a result, the pushrod threads may fail, causing the trailer parking brakes to engage unintentionally. If the trailer brakes engage unexpectedly, it would increase the risk of a crash.
Vermeer will notify owners, and dealers will reset the air brake pushrod length to the correct dimension free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2016. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-641-628-3141 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
