Porsche Recalls Cayenne Vehicles Due to Brake Pedal Pivot Pin Defect
Porsche is recalling 2011-2016 Cayenne vehicles because a missing circlip may allow the brake pedal to dislodge, potentially preventing the driver from braking.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect in the braking system that could prevent the driver from applying brakes, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
Plain-English summary
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Cayenne vehicles manufactured between April 28, 2010, and January 11, 2016. The recall involves approximately 88,300 vehicles.
The brake pedal pivot pin may be missing a circlip. This defect allows the pivot pin to move, which can cause the brake pedal to dislodge. If the brake pedal dislodges, the driver may not be able to apply the brakes, increasing the risk of a crash.
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake pedal assembly circlip and install any missing circlips free of charge. The recall began on July 8, 2016. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
