The Trailer Tow Lighting Control Module may have a software error that can prevent the illumination of trailer brake lights during brake actuation. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108. Inoperative trailer brake lights can increase the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will mail letters to owners to notify purchasers of the modules. Dealers will replace the Trailer Tow Light Control Modules free of charge. The recall began on June 20, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S29.
