Plain-English summary
Hale Products Inc. is recalling certain 6 Inch Suction Strainers, part number 010-0030-00-0, manufactured between July 15, 2015, and March 30, 2016. The recall involves approximately 2,400 units.
The affected strainers may have been improperly soldered, leaving the component weak. This defect can cause the strainer to break, allowing the strainer and debris to enter and possibly damage the fire pump. If the strainer or debris enters the pump and forces the operator to shut down the pump, firefighting effectiveness may be reduced, creating an increased risk of injury.
Hale will replace the defective strainers with new ones via next-day air, free of charge. The recall began on April 20, 2016. Owners may contact Hale Products at 1-800-533-3569 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
