Plain-English summary
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2013, 2014, and 2015 Suzuki SFV650 motorcycles. The recall covers 287 vehicles manufactured between March 23, 2013, and September 12, 2014, across three specific production windows.
During assembly, the fuel tank breather hose may not have been positioned properly, causing it to become kinked. If the hose is kinked, pressure may build inside the fuel tank, causing the tank to crack and resulting in a fuel leak. This condition increases the risk of a fire.
Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank breather hose. If the existing hose is found to be kinked and obstructed, the fuel tank will also be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 8, 2016. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-714-572-1490 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
