What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (transmission control module failure) that causes loss of motive power and increases the risk of a vehicle crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Dodge Dart vehicles manufactured between February 24, 2012, and June 16, 2015. The recall involves approximately 23,564 vehicles.
The affected vehicles may experience a failure of the transmission control module (TCM). This failure can cause the transmission to unexpectedly shift into neutral. If this occurs, the vehicle may lose motive power, which increases the risk of a vehicle crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the TCM and bracket free of charge. Chrysler issued an interim notification to owners on October 14, 2015, and the recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
