What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a safety-critical product (motorcycle helmet) that failed to meet federal safety standards, creating a risk of serious personal injury, but no specific injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.
Plain-English summary
H&H Sports Protection is recalling certain VCAN V528 Milano motorcycle helmets in sizes XS, S, M, L, and XL. These helmets were manufactured between April 1, 2008, and October 9, 2014. The recall covers a total of 6,356 units, including 5,184 helmets in sizes other than XL that were added to the recall on July 15, 2015.
The helmets are being recalled because the retention systems failed during high-temperature testing. Additionally, the required safety labeling may be missing from the helmets. As a result, these products do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, which governs motorcycle helmets.
Failed helmet restraints can increase the risk of serious personal injury to the occupant. This recall supersedes the previous recall campaign 14E-082, which originally covered only size XL helmets. The current recall began on July 21, 2015.
