H&H Sports Protection Recalls TORC T-55 V2 Motorcycle Helmets

H&H Sports Protection is recalling TORC T-55 V2 half helmets because they may not adequately protect the wearer or stay secured during a crash.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (motorcycle helmets) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for products that may fail to protect against head impacts.

Plain-English summary

H&H Sports Protection is recalling certain TORC T-55 V2 low profile half helmets in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, and XXL. The recall involves approximately 7,506 units.

These helmets may not adequately protect the wearer in the event of a head impact during a motorcycle crash. Additionally, the helmets may not stay secured to the head during a crash. As a result, these helmets fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets." A helmet that fails to meet these safety requirements can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

H&H will notify owners and will either replace or provide a refund for the helmet, free of charge. The recall began on April 20, 2017. Owners may contact H&H Sports Protection at 1-626-444-0107. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
