What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fuel system defect that may result in a fuel leak and increase the risk of a fire, which aligns with the rubric criterion for significant injury/property-damage reports or structural vehicle defects.
Plain-English summary
General Motors LLC is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD diesel vehicles manufactured between September 30, 2014, and October 21, 2014, and GMC Sierra HD diesel vehicles manufactured between October 8, 2014, and October 21, 2014. The recall addresses a defect in the fuel system where the hose clamp securing the fuel tank vent line may not have been properly tightened during assembly.
A loose hose clamp could allow the fuel tank vent line to detach, resulting in a fuel leak. This condition increases the risk of a fire. The recall began on February 6, 2015.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the fuel tank vent line hose clamp as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 for Chevrolet or 1-800-462-8782 for GMC. GM's number for this recall is 14855. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
