Plain-English summary

American Honda Motor Co. is recalling certain model year 2014 Acura RLX vehicles manufactured between November 22, 2012, and January 30, 2014; 2015 Acura RLX vehicles manufactured between June 4, 2014, and November 18, 2014; and 2014 Acura RLX Hybrid vehicles manufactured between November 5, 2013, and July 25, 2014. The recall affects 9,751 vehicles in total.

The defect involves an aluminum film applied to the inner reflector of the headlight that may experience adhesion issues, causing the film to delaminate. This condition causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 regarding lamps and reflective devices. The delamination may diminish the output of the headlight, which increases the risk of a vehicle crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace both headlights free of charge. The recall began on February 2, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-310-783-2000.
