Plain-English summary
Isuzu Manufacturing Services of America is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Reach chassis manufactured between July 26, 2011, and August 7, 2014. The recall involves 3,564 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the brake light switch may be bent while braking, which can cause the switch to fail to activate the brake lights and potentially corrode.
If the brake light switch bends or corrodes, it may become inoperative. This failure increases the risk of a crash because other drivers may not see that the vehicle is braking. Isuzu will notify owners, and dealers will apply a protector and a waterproof cover with an extension harness to prevent the switch from bending or corroding. This repair is free of charge.
Parts for the repair are not currently available. Owners will receive an interim notification, followed by a second notice when remedy parts are available. Isuzu issued an interim notification to owners on December 17, 2014. Owners may contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
