Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2009-2011 Hyundai Genesis vehicles manufactured between April 30, 2008, and November 21, 2010, as well as 2011 Hyundai Equus vehicles manufactured between July 31, 2010, and November 21, 2010. The recall involves a total of 42,925 vehicles.

The defect is a circuit failure that may cause the stop lamps to not illuminate. If the stop lamps do not light up as expected, a following vehicle may not recognize that the affected vehicle is slowing down or coming to a stop. This condition increases the risk of a rear-end crash.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will repair the stop lamp switch circuit free of charge.
