Hyundai Recalls 2009-2012 Genesis Vehicles for Brake Fluid Defect
Hyundai is recalling 2009-2012 Genesis vehicles because the brake fluid may not protect against corrosion of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). This corrosion could reduce brake effectiveness and increase the risk of a crash.

Plain-English summary
Hyundai Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Genesis vehicles manufactured between April 30, 2008, and March 28, 2012. The recall involves approximately 43,500 vehicles that may contain brake fluid which does not adequately protect against corrosion of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).
If the HECU module corrodes, it may result in reduced brake effectiveness, which increases the risk of a crash. This defect is classified under Service Brakes, Hydraulic: Fluid.
Hyundai will notify owners and instruct them to bring their vehicle to a dealer for service. The dealer will inspect the HECU module for proper operation and replace it if necessary. Additionally, Hyundai will replace the factory brake fluid in vehicles that have not previously had the fluid replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge.
