Dodge Journey Recall for Inaccurate Tire Placard Weight Information

Chrysler is recalling 2014-2015 Dodge Journey vehicles because tire placard labels may contain inaccurate weight and seating information, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where the defect (inaccurate weight labeling) increases the risk of a crash, but no specific injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured between October 25, 2013, and August 22, 2014. The affected vehicles may be equipped with tire placard labels that contain inaccurate seating capacity and occupant/cargo combined weight information. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."

The inaccurate information on the tire placard may lead operators to overload the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a correct tire placard label free of charge. The recall began on April 8, 2015.
