Porsche Cars North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman vehicles manufactured between May 7, 2014, and September 23, 2014. The recall involves 1,382 vehicles where the front hood upper lock components were not manufactured to specification.

The defective components may fail to securely latch the vehicle's hood during operation. If the hood latching mechanism fails, the hood may suddenly open while the vehicle is being driven. This would severely impede the driver's ability to see out the front windshield, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
