Wheeled Coach Recalls Ambulances Due to Suspension Tank Mount Failure Risk
Wheeled Coach is recalling certain 2013-2015 ambulances because a suspension fluid tank mount may fail, causing the tank to separate and create a road hazard.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where a component may separate from the chassis, creating a road hazard that increases the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects.
Plain-English summary
Wheeled Coach Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014 emergency vehicles built on Dodge 4500 and Chevrolet CG33803 (G3500) chassis, as well as 2013-2015 emergency vehicles built on Ford F-450 chassis. The affected vehicles are equipped with LiquidSpring-brand aftermarket suspension kits.
The defect involves the mounting bracket that attaches the suspension fluid tank to the frame. This bracket may fail, allowing the fluid tank to separate from the vehicle. If the mount fractures and the tank separates from the chassis, the tank may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Wheeled Coach will notify owners, and LiquidSpring dealers will install a re-designed bracket free of charge. The recall began on December 4, 2014. Owners may contact Wheeled Coach customer service at 1-855-661-9232 or LiquidSpring customer service at 1-765-474-7816 extension 109.
