Starcraft RV Recalls 2015 Launch Travel Trailers Due to Tire Label Error

Starcraft RV is recalling 12 model year 2015 16RB Launch travel trailers because the Federal ID label lists incorrect tire pressure, which could lead to a tire blowout.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (tire blowout leading to crash) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

Starcraft RV is recalling certain model year 2015 16RB Launch travel trailers equipped with the Extreme Package Option. These vehicles were manufactured between April 16, 2014, and April 21, 2014. The recall affects 12 units in total.

The Federal ID label on these vehicles incorrectly indicates a cold tire inflation pressure of 80 psi instead of the correct 50 psi. This labeling error causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120 regarding tire selection and load carrying capacity information. If a user inflates the tires to the incorrect pressure listed on the label, a tire blowout could occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

Starcraft will notify owners, and dealers will remove the incorrect labels and replace them with new labels containing the correct information at no charge. The recall began in late August 2014. Owners may contact Starcraft customer service at 1-800-945-4787 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
