Starcraft RV Recalls 2014-2016 Trailers for Incorrect Tire Certification Labels

Starcraft RV is recalling 50 model year 2014-2016 AR-ONE and Comet trailers because certification labels list the wrong tire size, which could lead to improper tire installation and increased crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where incorrect tire installation could affect handling and increase crash risk, but no injuries or illnesses have been reported.

Plain-English summary

Starcraft RV is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 AR-ONE TT trailers and Comet CT Hard Sided camping trailers equipped with the Extreme Package Option. The affected units were manufactured between June 3, 2013, and February 6, 2015. This recall covers 50 vehicles.

The defect involves certification labels that incorrectly state a tire size of ST205/75R 14C, while the actual tire size is LT235/75R 15C. This error causes the vehicles to fail to comply with 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification." If an operator installs incorrect tires based on the label information, vehicle handling could be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.

Starcraft will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected label free of charge. The recall began on July 17, 2015. Owners may contact Starcraft customer service at 1-800-945-4787 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
