Plain-English summary
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2015 Freightliner Cascadia, 122SD, and Business Class M2 trucks. These vehicles were manufactured between March 20, 2014, and April 10, 2014. The recall involves 192 vehicles.
The recall is due to an axle manufacturing error that may result in weak spots in the beam of the affected axle assemblies. These weak spots could cause the axle beam to bend or lead to wheel separation, which increases the risk of a crash.
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the axle beams for specific manufacturing dates. Axles manufactured within the affected date range will be replaced free of charge. The recall began on August 22, 2014. Owners can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-385-4357 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
