The affected vehicles were manufactured between November 28, 2012, and March 7, 2014. This recall is an expansion of a previous campaign (13V-452) and addresses a defect in the right front half shaft.

The right front half shaft on these vehicles may fracture and separate. If this occurs while driving, the vehicle would lose power and coast to a stop. Additionally, if a vehicle with a fractured half shaft is parked without the parking brake applied, it could move unexpectedly. Both conditions increase the risk of a crash. Some vehicles previously repaired under the 2013 recall campaign were repaired using defective parts and require remediation again under this current campaign.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the right half shaft, as needed, free of charge. Parts for the remedy were not available at the time of the notice, with an interim letter sent in May 2014 and a second letter to follow when parts become available.
