In the affected vehicles, a piston connecting rod may come loose and damage the engine crankcase. A damaged crankcase may allow engine oil to leak onto hot components in the engine bay, which may result in a fire.

Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will install a new engine with improved piston connecting rod connections, free of charge. The recall began on June 6, 2014.
