Plain-English summary
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2011 and 2012 model year vehicles, including the 911 Speedster, 911 GT3 RS, Boxster, Cayman, and 911 Carrera and Turbo series. The recall affects 235 vehicles manufactured between May 31, 2011, and June 10, 2011.
The defect involves the mounting holes in the seat belt anchor plates, which may be too small. If the hole diameter is too small, the anchor plate may not rotate about the fastening bolt as designed. This could cause the seat belt to not route optimally around the occupant or potentially loosen in the future, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt anchors and replace the seat belt if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The safety recall began on September 2, 2011. Owners may contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7243 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
