Plain-English summary
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2014 Freightliner Custom Chassis MT45, MT55, and MBC Chassis vehicles. The affected vehicles were manufactured between September 24, 2013, and November 7, 2013.
The recall is due to an incorrect calibration in the instrument cluster. This defect may cause the speedometer to display a speed lower than the vehicle is actually traveling. Consequently, drivers may unknowingly exceed posted speed limits, which increases the risk of a crash.
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will update the instrument cluster software to the correct calibration free of charge. Owners may contact DTNA at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-658. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
