Maserati is recalling 2014 Quattroporte GTS vehicles due to a wiring defect that could cause a fire or vehicle stall.

What this means for you

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (wiring harness) that poses a risk of fire and vehicle stall, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Maserati North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014 Quattroporte GTS V8 vehicles. The recall involves 63 vehicles that have an improper Y-connection crimp in the alternator-starter motor wiring harness.

The improper crimp could cause the battery positive cable to short to ground, which may cause the wiring harness to overheat and result in a fire. Additionally, the vehicle may stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the alternator-starter wiring harness free of charge. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
