General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles manufactured between August 2, 2013, and August 12, 2013. The recall addresses a defect in the front fuel tank strap bracket caused by insufficient welds.
If the front fuel tank strap bracket separates from the vehicle, the increased load may lead to the failure of the other tank support. This could cause the fuel tank to come loose, resulting in a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak may result in a fire.
