Adventurer Truck Campers Recalled for Door Lock Jamming Risk

Adventurer LP is recalling 2009-2012 truck campers because a door lock defect may jam the deadbolt, trapping occupants inside the vehicle.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria for potential entrapment and injury.

Plain-English summary

Adventurer LP is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 truck campers manufactured between October 2009 and March 2012. These vehicles are equipped with a Fastec-brand door lock that may allow the key to be removed in a way that jams the deadbolt.

If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. This could trap a person inside the travel trailer, preventing them from exiting without using the emergency exit, which increases the risk of injury.

Adventurer LP will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2013. Owners may contact Adventurer LP at 1-505-895-7064 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.
