What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary

Pierce Manufacturing is recalling one model year 2008 Oshkosh AMAMTH-2 trailer manufactured in February 2008. The trailer is equipped with a Ricon wheelchair lift featuring an optional armored pendant cable. The defect involves the positioning of this armored cable, which may not clear the wheelchair lift.

If the cable does not clear the lift, it may contact the power lug. If the cable lacks a nonconductive cover or has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, a short circuit may occur, potentially resulting in a fire.

Pierce has notified the owner of the affected vehicle. Ricon will send the owner a supplemental cover kit and instructions free of charge. Owners may contact Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov.
