The defect involves the combo eye plate that connects the gooseneck portion of the trailer to the deck portion. This component may crack and ultimately fracture, causing it to fail to maintain the load-carrying capabilities as designed. If the plate cracks and fails, the trailer deck could tilt and impact the highway, stopping the vehicle unexpectedly and increasing the risk of a crash.
