Plain-English summary
Prevost Cars, Inc. is recalling certain model year 1993 through 2013 H3-40, H3-41, H3-45, and H3-45 VIP coaches manufactured from December 1993 through February 12, 2013. The recall involves 6,120 vehicles. The defect involves the drag link collar position and the torque of the collar retaining bolt, which may create contact with the pitman arm under certain conditions.
This contact may cause the turnbuckle to fracture without warning. If the drag link turnbuckle breaks while the vehicle is in use, stability and vehicle control may be lost, increasing the risk of a crash.
Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any affected drag link free of charge. The recall began on April 18, 2013. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-418-883-2888 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
