What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (suspension component) that can lead to loss of vehicle control and increased crash risk, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Prevost Cars, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 X3-45 coaches manufactured between March 25, 2011, and March 20, 2012. The recall affects 196 vehicles.

The left side radius rod support for the front I-beam suspension system may have been made from the wrong materials. This defect could cause the rod to suddenly break while the vehicle is in use. If this occurs, the driver may lose stability and vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any affected radius rod supports free of charge. The recall began on January 28, 2013. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-418-883-2888 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
