Eldorado National is recalling certain model year 2012 Aerotech 240 buses manufactured between May 2012 and October 2012. The affected vehicles are equipped with a Ricon-manufactured wheelchair lift featuring an optional armored pendant cable.
The defect involves the installation of the armored pendant cable, which may not clear the wheelchair lift or may lack a protective cover, or may have a misinstalled protective cover. This condition allows the cable to contact the power lug at the base of the wheelchair lift, potentially causing a short circuit that could result in a fire.
Eldorado National is working with Ricon to notify owners. Ricon will provide a supplemental cover kit with instructions free of charge.
