The defect occurs when the brakes are applied while the turn signal is activated, which may cause the turn signal to turn off and the opposite trailer turn signal to activate. This incorrect signaling fails to properly notify other drivers of the driver's intent, such as the direction of a turn or lane change, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
