Plain-English summary
Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2013 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks manufactured between September 9, 2012, and March 5, 2013. The recall applies to vehicles equipped with optional premium tail lamps. In these vehicles, the turn signal indicator may not flash at a double rate to notify the driver of a turn signal malfunction, causing the vehicles to fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108.
The defect increases the risk of a crash because the driver may be unaware that a turn signal is malfunctioning. Consequently, other drivers on the road may not be notified that the vehicle is turning. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Central Body Controller software to correct the issue free of charge. The recall began on June 27, 2013.
