The recall addresses a defect in the chassis connectors for diode jumpers, which may come loose and result in an open circuit. This issue affects two specific circuits: the one that disengages the cruise control when the brake pedal is used, and the one that illuminates the brake lights when the brake pedal is used. If the cruise control fails to disengage when brakes are applied, or if the brake lights do not illuminate, the risk of a vehicle crash may increase.

Daimler Trucks (DTNA) will notify owners on behalf of Champion Bus. Freightliner dealers will inspect the diode jumpers to ensure they are fully locked in place and will correct the vehicles as needed. The recall was expected to begin on January 28, 2013.
