Plain-English summary

New England Wheels, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2006-2010 Ford E-150, E-250, and E-350 vehicles. This recall applies to vehicles equipped with Braun Century-2 and/or Vista-2 wheelchair lifts. The recall covers 435 affected vehicles.

The defect involves the roll stop latches on the outer barrier of the wheelchair lift. Over time and with frequent use, these latches may become bent or misaligned. If the latches are insufficiently secured, a wheelchair occupant may defeat or ride over the roll stop. If this occurs while the lift platform is in an elevated position, the occupant could fall and sustain injury.

New England Wheels notified owners during September 2012. Repairs will be performed by authorized Braun dealers free of charge. Owners may contact New England Wheels at 1-978-663-9724 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
