Double K Recalls 2008-2010 Buses Due to Fire Risk

Double K is recalling 2008-2010 Villager and Mainstreet buses because a fuse holder may overheat and cause a fire.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a potential fire hazard in a vehicle, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'significant injury/property-damage reports' or structural/functional defects posing serious risk.

Plain-English summary

Double K Inc. is recalling certain model year 2008 through 2010 Villager and Mainstreet buses manufactured between November 2008 and December 2010. These vehicles are equipped with Carrier GenV EM-1 evaporator units that contain a Delphi Pack-Con III fuse holder in an Allied Motion motor assembly.

Due to time, temperature, and/or vibration, the fuse may loosen in the fuse holder. This can result in high resistance and arcing. If sufficient arcing occurs, the fuse holder may melt, potentially accompanied by flame, smoke, and fire.

Double K will notify owners and provide information on how to obtain a retrofit kit from Carrier along with repair instructions. This service will be performed free of charge. Owners may contact Carrier at 1-800-793-4741 or Double K at 1-715-478-5090.
