Silver Eagle Recalls 2010-2011 Dolly Models Due to Brake Defect

Silver Eagle is recalling 2010-2011 Hawk, Tandem, and Falcon dollies because defective brake slack adjusters may crack, causing loss of braking and potential crashes.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect in the braking system that could result in a vehicle crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects and significant injury risk.

Plain-English summary

Silver Eagle Manufacturing is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Hawk, Tandem, and Falcon dollies manufactured between November 18, 2010, and March 24, 2011. These vehicles are equipped with Gunite automatic slack adjusters that may have inadequate structural integrity due to incomplete knitting of the iron during casting.

The defect could cause the slack adjuster housing to break at the handle under normal operating loads. This failure could lead to a loss of braking, which increases the risk of a vehicle crash.

Owners should contact Accuride at 1-855-857-8645 or their dealer to have the subject slack adjusters replaced free of charge. The safety recall was expected to begin on or before July 1, 2011. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
