Coachmen Recalls 2010-2011 Catalina Travel Trailers Due to Stuck Emergency Windows
Coachmen is recalling 2010 and 2011 Catalina travel trailers because emergency windows may stick or require excessive force to open, increasing injury risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported, specifically involving the inability to open emergency egress windows during an emergency.
Plain-English summary
Coachmen RV Company, LLC is recalling certain model year 2010 and 2011 Catalina travel trailers manufactured between June 23, 2009, and June 14, 2010. The recall involves a total of 2,931 vehicles.
The defect involves a foam seal with adhesive used on the egress (emergency) windows. This seal may cause the windows to stick or require more than 20 pounds of pressure to open. In an emergency, this difficulty in opening the windows increases the risk of personal injury.
Owners will be notified by Coachmen, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on July 13, 2010. Owners may contact Coachmen RV Customer Service at 1-800-453-6064 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
