What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a vehicle speed control defect (accelerator pedal) that can cause unintended acceleration and crashes, which aligns with the rubric criterion for structural vehicle defects or significant injury/property-damage reports.

Plain-English summary

Bad Boy Enterprises, LLC is recalling certain 2009 and 2010 model year Low Speed Vehicles (LSV) known as the Classic LSV model, including Stretch models, manufactured between November 10, 2009, and May 24, 2010. This recall does not apply to XT LSV models.

The accelerator pedal can become damaged due to exposure to water. A damaged pedal can send a voltage reading outside the range expected by the controller, causing the controller to send current and voltage to the electric motor. This can result in unintended acceleration, which could lead to a crash.

Bad Boy will notify owners, and dealers will replace the accelerator pedal free of charge. The safety recall began on July 30, 2010. Owners may contact Bad Boy at 1-866-678-6701 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
