Kenworth is recalling certain model year 2010 T2000, T660, T800, and W900 vehicles manufactured between July 30, 2009, and September 18, 2009. The recall addresses a defect in the rear axle outer end hub, which may not have been properly primed with oil during the installation process.

The potential lack of oil may cause the outer end bearing to heat up and/or seize, possibly resulting in the overheating of the wheel end. This condition may lead to a wheel end fire, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the bearings and seals, add oil to the outer end hub, and inspect the races and axle housing for damage, replacing components as necessary, free of charge.
