The hazard exists because the juice extractor's filter and lid can break apart, projecting metal and plastic into the air. Aroma Housewares has received 26 reports of this failure, resulting in 18 consumers suffering injuries. Three of these injuries required stitches. The extractors were sold at discount specialty and department stores, including Rite Aid and Payless Cashways, from March 1996 through February 1998 for about $25.
