Plain-English summary

Chariot Victor Publishing, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling approximately 44,000 VeggieTales' Dave and the Giant Pickle playsets. The recall addresses a choking hazard caused by six character figurines that have plastic plugs in their bases which can detach, as well as the French Peas figurine, which poses a risk due to its size and shape.

The playsets, which contain 10 figurines based on the animated video, were sold nationwide in major Christian bookstores and through catalog companies from September 1998 through February 1999 for about $20. The product number SPCN 9834501358 is located under the UPC code on the back of the mostly blue box. CPSC and the manufacturer are aware of one report of a 2-year-old child found with a plug in his mouth, though no injuries have been reported.

Because the firm is out of business, consumers cannot return the product for a refund or replacement. Consumers should immediately take the figurines with plugs in their bases and the French Peas figurine away from children and discard or destroy these products.
