The Body Shop U.S. is recalling approximately 25,000 scented "Jewel" candles in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves candles sold in two fragrances: mulled berries and brandied apples. These candles are about 3 inches high and feature decorative resin coverings with embedded glass beads and jewels.

The glass pots of these candles can explode or break, which may cause cuts to nearby consumers. Additionally, the outer decorative covering can melt or catch fire, posing a fire hazard. The Body Shop U.S. has received five reports of these candle pots exploding, breaking, melting, or burning, but no injuries have been reported.

These candles were sold at The Body Shop stores nationwide from September 1998 through December 1998 for about $10. Consumers should immediately stop using these candles and return them to any Body Shop store for a refund.
