What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (fire/burns) where injury has been reported (two consumers burned), but no fatalities or severe injuries are documented, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for reported injuries without critical outcomes.

Plain-English summary

Bath & Body Works Inc. is recalling approximately 18,700 ceramic potpourri burners in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves white, cylinder-shaped ceramic containers measuring 5.5 inches high and 4.25 inches in diameter, decorated with floral designs. These burners were sold nationwide in Bath & Body Works retail stores from April 1995 through April 1996 for approximately $10 each.

The recalled burners may contain hairline cracks that can cause the ceramic to fracture or shatter while in use. This defect can expose consumers to flames, hot potpourri, and hot wax. Bath & Body Works is aware of nine incidents where the burners cracked, resulting in two consumers receiving burns to their hands while attempting to extinguish flames.

Consumers should immediately stop using these ceramic potpourri burners. They can return the items to any Bath & Body Works retail store for a refund of the purchase price plus a $25.00 gift certificate. For more information, consumers may contact customer service at (800) 395-1001.
