Safety 1st is voluntarily recalling approximately 106,000 Bouncing Buggy plastic rocking car toys in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves the cat "Stop" sign and dog "Go" sign toys attached to the snack tray. These components can be broken off by children, creating sharp plastic edges that pose a risk of injury and choking.
The company has received more than 700 reports of children breaking off the toys while sitting in the buggy. There have been 33 reports of children being scratched, cut, or bruised, and one report of a child starting to choke. The recalled toys were sold at toy stores nationwide from May 1997 through April 1998 for about $50. Consumers can identify the affected products by the "Product No. 45606" found in raised lettering on the bottom of the rocking base. Products marked with "Product No. 45606A" are made of more flexible plastic and are not subject to this recall.
Consumers should stop using these products immediately and discard or destroy them.
