Bayco Products Inc. of Dallas, Texas, is recalling over 11,400 RiteLite and SmartLite fluorescent work lights in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The affected models are FL-600, FL-650, SL-600, SL-605, and SL-650. These lights feature a 9.25-inch tubular clear plastic case with yellow end caps, a metal hook, and a 20-foot or 50-foot electrical cord, some with a retractable reel.

The recall is due to a hazard where one of the light's metal screws can contact an internal live wire, posing a risk of electric shock to the user. Bayco Products is aware of one consumer who received an electric shock while using the work light. The lights were sold nationwide from June 1995 through July 1996 at automotive, hardware, and home improvement stores for approximately $30 to $70.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected work lights and discard or destroy them. Because the company can no longer be contacted, a remedy such as a refund or replacement is no longer available.
